Even In Barreness There IS a Miracle

For the past few days we have been dealing with barreness, and how the  unfruitful can become fruitful and multiply.  On yesterday we had taken a look at how God can turn lack into favor.  This series was meant for the women that have been praying for a child, but it can also be applied to other areas of your life.  Within this series we have heard, and taken a look at the stories of Sarah and Hannah.  Today I would like to talk about Elizabeth and Rachael, and I would like to share my own story of barreness. I guess I have chosen these women, because they had a real issue that they had been aware of.  They all had a desire to be mothers, and I know that they were righteous  and godly women.  In the case of Elizabeth she is the mother of John the Baptist.  She was the wife of Zachariah, and she was barren.  Elizabeth was 88 years old when she was blessed with her son. Rachael is another woman in the Bible that suffered with infertilit...

How Lack Can Turn Into Favor

Yesterday I had started a series that has been talking about the barreness of the womb.  In fact I shared a story about Sarah, and how she had dealt with infertility, and being a barren woman. Just to recap on what has been written.  To be barren means to be infertile. unfruitful, or desolate.  In this case we are talking about barreness, or unable to have children.  The story of Sarah has really touched my heart, as I was one that was once barren, but God has sense opened my womb, and blessed me with four children. Today I would like to continue our topic, and touch on the story of Hannah. I was so inspired by the stories of this woman that my first daughter has the name of  Hannah.  If you remember the story of Hannah, you know that her story is very unique.  She was the wife of a man named Elkanah, and she had become the mother of Samuel.  In Samuel 1 where the story of Hannah begins, you can see why her story is so unique.  Jus...

The Use of Medical Cannabis in Autistic Children

Image
As a mother of an autistic son, I am really concerned about the symptoms that he has suffered from. The debate of medical cannabis is ongoing, and both sides has continued to hold on to their beliefs about what medical cannabis will do for the autistic child. Over the last decade the rise of developmental, and behavioral disorders have risen around the world. Doctors, Scientists, and Psychiatrists are prescribing medicines to help alleviate the symptoms that are associated with these behavioral disorders. Children that have disorders like ADHD, and are on the spectrum have trouble communicating, and may make loud shrieking noises, and use hand flapping to communicate. Recently there has been a concern about the use of medical cannabis, and the treatment of ASD symptoms. The use of medical cannabis in children, and teenagers have not been studied, and no one really knows how these children will be affected. Some doctors say that long term cannabis use in teens ca...

New Life

Image
Welcome to the summer!!  It has been a long time since I have posted to my blog.  The children and I have completed our first year of home school, and we are enjoying the summer. Today I want to briefly talk about new life, and what it means to start over.  I am so excited about what God is doing in my life.  I have recently graduated college, and have plans to have another child.  Yes you have read it I am on the journey to motherhood again, and have decided to document everything through my blog. Before I expand my family there are a few things that I have to do.  I have to lose weight, change my eating habits, and make some lifestyle changes that will ensure a healthy pregnancy and baby.  So for the next six months I will be on a very happy and healthy journey. I believe that we should not be a prisoner to our past.  There is some point in our lives that we have to forget the former things that have past away.  In order...

Yes I am Mother but I Prefer You Call Me Mommy!

Image
As  I sit in the still and quiet room, I can feel the presence of the Holy Spirit.  It is one of those evenings where I am en\joying a hot cup of coffee, while the kids are playing outside,  We had an average kind of day.  My youngest daughter was kind of cranky, and ,  my son decided that he wanted to do all of his chores during class time.  I am very strict when it comes to the children.  We are on a schedule that I intend to stick to.  We are up by seven thirty, and they bath to get ready for school.  By eight we are at the breakfast table.  My daughters are usually the ones that be gin the preparation of breakfast.  Of course I am there to supervise the whole thing. I do not think that they are too young to be trained.  I have often stressed training my children, and I do not mean that in a literal sense.  We actually apply real life lessons in our home school.  My girls know how to cook...

The Mother's Rules of Engagement

Image
Greetings everyone I hope that God is blessing you with peace and prosperity.  you know I really love this time of year.  I love watching the seasons change.  The trees are displaying all kinds of colors.  This is the time of year where the kids, and I get a chance to decorate the yard with pumpkins, fall flowers, and other decor.  WE sit in the yard enjoying the cool breeze, and taking long walks in the park.  As we look at the month of October there is a newness of the month that is fast approaching. That means that a change of the seasons is near.  This is the first day of autumn, and the beginning of a new season.  i am writing this as my children are engaged in their work.  Our classroom is really quiet, and it is very easy to focus on my writing.  Through homeschooling we are learning more about each other.  I have four children, and they all have different learning styles, and it makes teaching them very interesting.  I...

A Week Long Tribute to Mother's Day

Image
Hello everyone I hope that you are enjoying the month of May.  Time is definitely moving, and it is not standing still.  I have been so busy with the children, and school until I have not had time to post like I want to.  I have just finished my final exams, and I passed with flying colors.  Being involved with the children has kept me busy.  I have some new ideas, and plan to take the blog to the next level.  I am looking to expand, and do a weekly audio blog.  God is giving me some awesome ideas, and I plan to carry through with what he has given to me.  I love to write!!  It is my first love, and I have been doing this for over twenty years. For the rest of the week I want to pay tribute to mothers everywhere.  I know that being a mom is a very demanding job, but it reaps the biggest ...

What it Means to Be a Mother

Image
There are moments with my children that are priceless There are times when I am so overjoyed to be a mother To hear the sounds of tiny footsteps running through the house To hear their voices when they cry The proud feeling you get To know that you are a leader with authority The calm position of being a nurturer The fact that you are a beacon of light The high calling that God has called you to The blessing that was bestowed upon all women There is the fact you forget all the pain of labor But you know that  you have power and strength to carry life You do not care about awards Or want to be mother of the year My joy comes from the laughter of my children Their voices sweet precious loving and joyful A mother is so many things She is a teacher mentor trainer coach friend minister nurturer Most of all She is a woman of God designed to teach her children about God and life A mother is more than a job it is a callin...

Worldly or Godly Standards

Image
This week I will be talking about acceptance.  I have noticed that many young women want to serve God, and live by the standards of the world.  The fact is, God is calling us to live by a higher standard of life.  Society has glamorized certain lifestyles, and many young people feel like they should be included in it.  Most of them feel that being popular is better than having morals and values. Can we live by the world's standards, and still please God?  The Bible says in Romans 12:2 "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is —his good, pleasing and perfect will."  As Christians we should live a life that is pleasing to the Lord. We are made in the image of God, and we are representatives of our Father.  That means that everything we do is being reflected, and the world is looking at us.  We are examples to the world.  Matt...

An Atitude of Gratitude

Image
Last week I had one of the biggest scares in my life.  It was last Tuesday morning, and it was a typical day in our household.  I had awakened at 5:00 a.m., and prepared myself for the day.  The kids had been awakened at 6:00 a.m., and they were in their usual mood.  We went through our normal routine, and had fun during the morning of preparations.  I never end the morning routine without a word of prayer.  Like always we hug and kiss and say our goodbyes. After the children had gone I had a sense of peace from the morning prayer.  There was nothing unusual going on so I had continued with my normal routine.  At around 7:30 the neighbor was ringing the doorbell. She had her oldest daughter by her side, and her eyes were filled with tears.  She said " I am not trying to scare you, but a lady just called me, and reported that a man has our babies held hostage on the bus."  My jaw dropped in dismay , and I was scare...

A Deeper Look

Image
This is a journal of my daily life as a single mother, and the things that has caused some real challenges for me.   I have learned that real love is sacrificial, and it endures to the end.   After the separation of my family I am learning how deep love is.   Just months after my relationship ended my son was diagnosed with autism.   It was in the spring of 2008 when I had received the news.   I know that my son’s diagnosis was not a death sentence, but this was a very difficult time for me as a parent.   How could a single mother of four children take care of a special needs child?     I suddenly found myself becoming depressed.   I did not have a support system, and I felt the stress deep down in my body and spirit.   The only one that could help me out of this was God. I know I had to be strong for my children.   I was all that they had at this point.   The Bible says “Come to me, all you wh...

Training Children in The Lord

Image
I am a firm believer that children should be taught in the way that they shall go.  I teach my children based on the principles of Proverbs 22:6 is says "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not part from it."  Each parent is different, but the most important factor is raising children effectively.  As a mom I train my girls to cook, clean, sew, and iron.  Well some may say that is a little old fashioned, but they are women in training.  One day they will have a family of their own, and they will need to know the basics of housekeeping.  My sons are learning the same lessons, but in a different perspective.  All parents have a set of values, and beliefs that they want to instill in their children.  My beliefs are in close relation to the Bible.  My children  are being trained, and prepared for life.  I thank God that he has bestowed this blessing on me.  In the near future I will ha...

Understanding School Violence and What You Can Do To Protect Your Children

Image
School is a place where a child is suppose to learn, and feel safe.  For most children it is a home away from home, because most of them will spend all day in school.  Some children have learned to accept school as a place of refuge, because they have a terrible home life.  Some may rely on the guidance of teachers, and support staff to help them. In the past we have seen more accidents and tragedies that have been related to school violence.  School violence is youth violence that can occur on school property, or at school related events.  There are many things that can cause youth violence, and I have learned that a child's environment can be a leading factor.  For example a child that lives in an impoverished surrounding is more capable of causing an act of violence.  That may be true, but there are also other things that can lead to violence at school.  This  is just a matter of opinion, but there are a number of things that can ca...

Prayer For the Children

Image
God has placed it on my heart to raise awareness about the safety of our children.  For the next year I will be praying fervently for every child that is in our nation's schools.  Children are the most important assets for the future, and they need to be covered by God's protection.  In the past we have seen tragedies that have taken the nation by storm.  I am praying for a good start this school year, and hope that every  child has a safe, happy, and healthy school year. Starting September 26th I will be praying every day for the protection and health of our children.  I invite you to join me in asking God  to protect and keep our children safe from all harm and danger.  I truly believe that ALL children deserve to opportunity to learn, and receive a good education.  Until next time may the Lord bless you with peace and prosperity.   See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels ...

Weekend Reflections

Image
I would like to take a moment to thank the Lord for such a beautiful week.  It has been an amazing journey.  This week was very productive, and I had a chance to get plenty of work done.  The kids and I had a chance to hang out, and watch television.  We had a long lesson on Ephesians 6:1-2, and a list of academic lessons.  They learned about the importance of prayer, and being kind to other people.  Every week I try to emphasis the importance of a good attitude, and having good manners. As I was sitting in my back yard I had a chance to just breathe in the fresh air.  Despite the fact that the south really heats up this time of year, I had a moment just to see all of the beauty that God created.  I am not talking about nothing that is man made, but the things that God created,  I had a chance to gaze at the trees, and look at the clouds in the sky.  I looked at the beautiful green grass, and realized how blessed I am.  Whe...

Summertime At A Glance

Image
Hey everyone welcome to the  month of June!!  Another month has passed, and the summer is finally here.  Moms, that means that the kids are home for their vacation.:)  Like most busy moms I have prepared my chore wheel, and the lesson plans for the summer.  It has been known fact that children will forget some of the information that they have learned over the school year.  To keep my children on track I have decided to home school during the summer months.  With a combination of academics and Bible lessons I think that the kids will gain a new perspective on education.  I will not push them while they are on vacation, but I do want to encourage them that knowledge is good.  I have some trips planned.  We will visit the library on a weekly basis, and we will visit some museums.  Hannah will get a chance to attend an art camp, and see some art exhibits.  We will see a few games at the ball park, and take the sig...
