Being Barren

Yesterday I had started a series that has been talking about the barrenness of the womb.  In fact I shared a story about Sarah, and how she had dealt with infertility, and being a barren woman. Just to recap on what has been written.  To be barren means to be infertile. unfruitful, or desolate.  In this case we are talking about barrenness, or unable to have children.  The story of Sarah has really touched my heart, as I was one that was once barren, but God has sense opened my womb, and blessed me with four children. Today I would like to continue our topic, and touch on the story of Hannah. I was so inspired by the stories of this woman that my first daughter has the name of  Hannah.  If you remember the story of Hannah, you know that her story is very unique.  She was the wife of a man named Elkanah, and she had become the mother of Samuel.  In Samuel 1 where the story of Hannah begins, you can see why her story is so unique.  Just l...

I Am Not On A Diet But I Do Have A Plan

Image
This year I have made a pact with myself that I will finally lose the weight that I  have been trying to drop for the last few years.  About two years ago I had started a weight loss journey where I had lost aprroximately 85 pounds.  Since that point I have been up and down on the scale.  I have still maintained an exercise routine where I walk, and do strength training, but there is something left to be desired. Lately I have not been ssatisfied with my weight.  Do not get me wrong I have made peace with myself, and I love the woman in the mirror, but... I still see a need to change for the better.  Last week I think I did research on several diets, and I have looked at the latest forms of excersise.  I will admit that I am actually excited about changing my life. Isaiah 43:19 says "See, I am doing a new thing!  Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?  I am making a way in the wilderness and streams i the wasteland."  Sometimes i...

There is Power In your Positive Affirmations

Image
What is positive affirmation?  Positive affirmation is a technique used to help program the subconscious mind.  It is used to bring about change by meditating, or repeating certain phrases.  Positive affirmations can be used to help change an individual's perspective or thought process.  We have the ability to use words to change the things that we believe. We can use the Word of God, or Scriptures to affirm things in our lives.  We can literally speak things into existence.  Proverbs 18:21 says "The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit."  Whatever you confess will manifest in your life.  What you believe will show up as a result of what you are thinking.  Developing a positive mindset can help bring change.  The outcome will be the manifestation of positive results. The confession of your words can bring the power of change.  What you say can affect your life.  As believers in Ch...

A Look Back

Image
I would like to take a moment to thank the Lord for such a beautiful week.  It has been an amazing journey.  This week was very productive, and I had a chance to get plenty of work done.  The kids and I had a chance to hang out, and watch television.  We had a long lesson on Ephesians 6:1-2, and a list of academic lessons.  They learned about the importance of prayer, and being kind to other people.  Every week I try to emphasis the importance of a good attitude, and having good manners. As I was sitting in my back yard I had a chance to just breathe in the fresh air.  Despite the fact that the south really heats up this time of year, I had a moment just to see all of the beauty that God created.  I am not talking about nothing that is man made, but the things that God created,  I had a chance to gaze at the trees, and look at the clouds in the sky.  I looked at the beautiful green grass, and realized how blessed I am. When I se...

Many Blessings

This morning I sing, because I have many blessings.  Sometimes we tend to overlook the small things that God has done.  We can sometimes take for granted the very things that other people may be lacking.  My many blessings include my everyday needs. I may not have a mansion, but I have a roof over my head.  I may not drive a Bentley, but I have a vehicle to get around in.  I may not wear designer labels, but I have clothes on my back.  I may not eat at five star  restaurants   but there is food on the table.  I may not be what society says is beautiful, but I am made in the image of my Father.  I may not be where I need to be, but I thank God I am not where I used to be. I have health, strength, my beautiful babies, and family.  I have my life, opportunities, dreams, and most important above all I have my heavenly Father.  Abba Father God I love you and thank you for my many blessings.

Keep Going Through The Storm

Okay, I have started this new book series that I think will be a real blessing to many people, and I have all the ideas in place.  I have written the first draft, and have decided to write at least five pages a day until it is complete.  With the school year almost in completion I am thinking about what the summer is going to bring.  During this time we are looking at camp, sports, and maybe a vacation. The children are trying to adjust to all the new changes that we had to deal with over the last month.  With the death of my mother we are trying to get back on track.  I for one am trying to get back to work, and get everything organized.  I had to take some time off from writing to make sure that the children, and I were okay with all that was going on.  There is nothing in this life that can prepare you for when a loved one departs this life, but for the most part God has been good to us. Now it is time to get to what I do best.  Inspiration...

Peace Be Still

Image
I could not seem to fall asleep last night, and I was constantly thinking of my mother, and how she exited this world.  There is constant reminder that she was here.  When I walk into her room I can still smell her perfume.  Her pillow still smells like the shampoo that she used to wash her hair.  Her clothes are still hanging in the closet, and her journal is still on the desk by the window. Mother, had a sweet spirit, and this day reminds me of her warmth and love.  We loved to sit and drink coffee on cold days like this, and she told me stories of her childhood with the family.  I had a dream that she opened her eyes, and she had a sweet smile on her face.  I have read scripture after scripture, and verse after verse that says how good God is.  Yes, the Lord is good in every way that I can think of. God's beauty is evident even in the event of death.  He comforts us, and he leads us to a place of peace.  We can trust God in all th...

Without A Moment's Notice

Image
Today my daughter had a loose tooth, and it was very painful for her to eat anything harder than pudding.  I had offered to pull the tooth, but she was too afraid to let me touch it.  She had an extreme fear that it was going to hurt too much.  After a few attempts to eat breakfast Keara became very frustrated.  A few hours had passed, and she was tired of struggling to eat. I said "Okay, can I look at your tooth now?  I will not hurt you."  In a moment's notice she kept her eyes on me, and I gently extracted  her loose tooth.    Sometimes we have to be like little children, and learn to let go and let God.  We must learn to trust God in every situation.  Even in a worst case scenarios we can trust God.  There are times that we may be very vulnerable to life, but God's love and grace keeps us in perfect peace. My mother's death has come as a shock, and the pain can sometimes feel unbearable.  I have chosen to trus...

Just a Greeting

Image
Sometimes you really don't need a reason to speak to a friend.  No matter how busy one may be it only takes a minute of time to give a few kind words or wish someone a good night.  You may not get a thank you in return or you may not receive a metal for being kind, but the reward comes from knowing that you added something positive to that person's day. Here is to wishing you something a little positive. The Word of God is food for the soul

You Have to Keep Moving Forward

Image
As I sit in the still quiet of my study I am in awe of all that God has created.  I had turned to the window in my room, and stared at the beauty of the leaves on the trees.  It is simply amazing how the seasons have began to change.  It only seemed like yesterday that we were sitting in the backyard drinking ice tea.  My children, and I had just begun our homeschooling journey.  We had just started plans for the fall holidays, and made preparations for our back to school bash.  Then suddenly I was stuck with the thought about how fast time is going. Here we are at the beginning of the third week in November, and the smell of Thanksgiving is right around the corner.  Soon we will be at the table full of turkey, and talking about hanging Christmas reefs on the door.  I often tell my children how important it is to cherish each day, and to never waste a moment, or take time for granted.  Each day that has passed has brought me closer to a goa...

Why I am Thankful

Image
As I look around the classroom in my home I am in awe of what the Lord has done.  It is His mighty power, and grace that has kept me over the years.  I am thankful not because I am forced to, but because I am a very blessed and kept woman of God. I know that I am nothing without the power of God.  With Him I know that I can do all things and know that I have triumphantly succeeded in every battle that I have ever faced.  With him I am more than a conqueror.  I am a hero in my own right.  Being a spiritual being made in the image of my Father sets me up on a higher standard of living. I thank God for the life that I live.  I thank the Lord for his love, mercy, and grace.  I may not have a mansion, but I thank God for the roof over my head.  I may not own a limo, but I thank the Lord for the car that I drive.  I may not wear designer clothes, but I thank the Lord for the clothes on my back.  Most of all I thank the Lord for His So...

Be Of Good Cheer

Image
I know that life can be hard sometimes, and it seems that no one understands the struggle.  There may be days that you want to question why things are going wrong.  You may be filled with doubt, and do not feel like smiling but let me offer you some encouragement.  There are a million reasons why you should be hopeful.  Most important above all God loves you with an unconditional love.  HE cares for you.  If you are reading this then that means that you are very much alive and well.  That is another reason that you should be happy.  God has blessed  you to be alive and among the living.  You may not feel it, but you are worth all of the love that God has placed on the inside of you.  It does not matter what you look like, or what your status may be WE are ALL children of GOD.  Be of good cheer today and no that God loves you.  Here is a scripture for you today.  "These things I have spoken unto you that in me ye might...

This Is More Than A Company It is Apart of My Ministry

Image
In the past few weeks I have been talking about my business, and what I want to offer women from all walks of life.  I have placed so much trust in God to help me make things happen, and I am confident that God will supply all the resources and provisions for this business to come to pass.  With every post I like to add a scripture that is very beneficial to what I am creating.  In the book of Habakkuk 2:2 it says "Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that the herald may run with it. " (New International Version) To me this is more than a business, it is a part of my ministry.  I have always felt the calling to help and encourage single mothers.  As a child I was a part of a single parent home, and I had seen first hand the things that my mother had to experience.  And now that I am a single mother of four, I have experienced the highs and lows of single motherhood. When I think of all the things that I want to bring to girls ...

Hello everybody welcome to the beginning of the week.  We are in the third week of May.  That means that we are almost in the summer season.  God has blessed me to be alive and well in the latter part of the Spring.  I was not too far from the tornado that came through the state last month.  I am thankful that God is still covering me with his mercy and grace. I am excited about my business, and I am looking forward to bringing products that I know women will love.  My business is for all women, but I founded the company with the single mother in mind.  I know that some single mothers are not able to afford clothing and jewelry, because they are too busy providing for their children.  "Afro By Design" is for the woman that wants to feel beautiful at affordable prices.  I will be selling real African products.  In the near future I will have dresses, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and other items for women from all walks of life. I...

One Step Closer to Starting Entrepreneurship God's Perfect Timing)

Image
Hello everybody I hope that you are doing well on this beautiful day in May.  God is just blessing me to do some great things in life.  You know when I first started with the concept of a business idea, I was not sure what I really wanted to do.  In my early years as a homemaker I had plenty of time to sit, and think of the type of business that I had wanted to invest my time in. When my children were really small I had always known that I wanted to be home with them, and still have an income to take care of the household.  For the last five years I have been eager to get started with my business plans, and have discovered that God has given me several visions when it comes to entrepreneurship.  It has taken plenty of patience for me to get to this point.  Let me give a scripture to those that might be struggling with patience.  "And let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we shall reap if we do not grow weary" (Galatians 6:9) The race...

Motherhood

Image
Being a mother is more than just wearing a title It is a calling  It is a job It is a blessing  That is bestowed upon all women it is more than just singing your children to sleep It is more than just reading them stories at bedtime What about  the moments: When your child was born When he/she babbled his/her first words What about the moment they walked for the first time Or they had an accident on the playground What about the first time you taught her how to ride her bike Or you cheered them on at their soccer game How about all the times that she was sick And wanted you to hold her hand  And feed her chicken soup You can remember every ceremony, ball game, dance, and everything that your child has done You look for every smile and every opportunity to be there for your children You are blessed as a mother I am blessed to be a mother Proverbs 31:10-30

A Week Long Tribute to Mother's Day

Image
Hello everyone I hope that you are enjoying the month of May.  Time is definitely moving, and it is not standing still.  I have been so busy with the children, and school until I have not had time to post like I want to.  I have just finished my final exams, and I passed with flying colors.  Being involved with the children has kept me busy.  I have some new ideas, and plan to take the blog to the next level.  I am looking to expand, and do a weekly audio blog.  God is giving me some awesome ideas, and I plan to carry through with what he has given to me.  I love to write!!  It is my first love, and I have been doing this for over twenty years. For the rest of the week I want to pay tribute to mothers everywhere.  I know that being a mom is a very demanding job, but it reaps the biggest ...

Choices and Christian Motherhood

When I look at the world that we live in I have to ask myself some questions.  As a mother should I be strict on my children, or give them a little freedom?  As a Christian parent should I allow the kids to watch all cartoons?  Do certain celebrities have an impact on my children's lives?  These are just a few of the questions that I ask myself each day.  As a mom what should I do? With so much new technology children have a chance to access anything from any location.  I think that media plays an important role in what children are viewing and hearing.  With the click of a button they can see anything on the Internet.  One touch of the remote, and kids are looking at all kinds of music videos.  Is all this media really healthy for developing minds? The other day my daughter was watching a music video of a very famous singer.  She looked at me, and said she wanted to be just like her.  Immediately I asked her what she liked...

Prayer For God to Protect Our Children

Image
Lord I would like to offer a prayer for our dear children.  Lord I am so glad that you are watching over me, and my family.  God there are so many people out there in this world that are lost, hungry, and in need.  Families have been torn apart, and lives have been lost from trouble. Right now God I pray for the millions of children, and teenagers that are struggling with depression, and suicide.  God the children that have lost their parents due to a tragedy.  I pray for the child that is living with the pain of a separation, or a young girl that is facing drugs. I can not be silent knowing that children are suffering.  God they need you as much as we do if not more.  I lift up my hands God.  Asking that you revive this generation that is coming forward.  By your mercy and grace God you will stop the attack of the enemy on our children. I thank you Lord for all that you have done.  I know that children are a blessing, and they ar...
