The Use of Medical Cannabis in Autistic Children

Image
As a mother of an autistic son, I am really concerned about the symptoms that he has suffered from. The debate of medical cannabis is ongoing, and both sides has continued to hold on to their beliefs about what medical cannabis will do for the autistic child. Over the last decade the rise of developmental, and behavioral disorders have risen around the world. Doctors, Scientists, and Psychiatrists are prescribing medicines to help alleviate the symptoms that are associated with these behavioral disorders. Children that have disorders like ADHD, and are on the spectrum have trouble communicating, and may make loud shrieking noises, and use hand flapping to communicate. Recently there has been a concern about the use of medical cannabis, and the treatment of ASD symptoms. The use of medical cannabis in children, and teenagers have not been studied, and no one really knows how these children will be affected. Some doctors say that long term cannabis use in teens ca...

I Will Not Hold On to a Defeated Mindset

Image
There is a scripture in the Bible that says "I look to the hills where my help comes from my help comes from the Lord."  In my eyes that scripture has so much meaning, and it is very close to my heart.  I can not tell you how many times that I have contemplated on this scripture, and it has spoken to my heart.  In this life I have had some storms that have spiraled out of control, yet I could always count on God to be a refuge in the time of those storms.  I have learned that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever.  He will not change no matter what the season is. I have also developed a mindset that exudes nothing but positive thoughts.  I have decided to make positive affirmations everyday that God blesses me with.  I have made up my mind that I will not live with a defeated mentality.  I believe that as a daughter of God, and  a believer I can be victorious in every situation.  1 Corinthians 15:57 says "But thanks be to ...

Worldly or Godly Standards

Image
This week I will be talking about acceptance.  I have noticed that many young women want to serve God, and live by the standards of the world.  The fact is, God is calling us to live by a higher standard of life.  Society has glamorized certain lifestyles, and many young people feel like they should be included in it.  Most of them feel that being popular is better than having morals and values. Can we live by the world's standards, and still please God?  The Bible says in Romans 12:2 "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is —his good, pleasing and perfect will."  As Christians we should live a life that is pleasing to the Lord. We are made in the image of God, and we are representatives of our Father.  That means that everything we do is being reflected, and the world is looking at us.  We are examples to the world.  Matt...

My Reflection

Image
My reflection  is sometimes a little fuzzy and I cannot figure out who I am.  I get a little tongue tied when people ask me about my identity.  I become a little afraid when I have to define who I am , and I cry when I become fearful.  Who am I  and what am I?  Who did God create me to be? Should I be all that I can be?, or should I be what the people want me to be.  I want to shout at the world, because I do not know who I am.  I have no clue when it comes to the will of God.  I feel like I have no purpose, and I feel like I have been created for nothing.  My heart is broken each time I hear the word purpose.  I have stammered when the subject has been presented to me.  Do have I worth in the eyes of God, or is there something that he has for me to do.  I feel a little confused about my life, and I just want to be me.  The other day I was talking to a woman of God , and she seem to understand how I was feeling....

Training Children in The Lord

Image
I am a firm believer that children should be taught in the way that they shall go.  I teach my children based on the principles of Proverbs 22:6 is says "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not part from it."  Each parent is different, but the most important factor is raising children effectively.  As a mom I train my girls to cook, clean, sew, and iron.  Well some may say that is a little old fashioned, but they are women in training.  One day they will have a family of their own, and they will need to know the basics of housekeeping.  My sons are learning the same lessons, but in a different perspective.  All parents have a set of values, and beliefs that they want to instill in their children.  My beliefs are in close relation to the Bible.  My children  are being trained, and prepared for life.  I thank God that he has bestowed this blessing on me.  In the near future I will ha...

Teens and Depression

Image
There are approximately 70% of teenagers that are suffering from depression.  Most teens have stress at school, work, and at home.  Some parents are unaware that their children are having problems.  Most teens that have depression are more likely to be depressed in adulthood.  Depression can affect every aspect of a child's life, and can cause problems with relationships and friendships.  Most important above all it can affect a child's self esteem. Depression is a mental disorder that if left untreated can cause major issues for the individual.  Proper diagnosis is necessary to determine if your child is at risk.  Treating this disorder can greatly increase the chance that your child can make a full recovery.  In my opinion I believe that depression is a very serious disorder when it comes to young people.  They have to face so many things in our society, and feel that they have to live up to a certain standard.  Many of these child...
