My Children's Lesson On Giving

Image
This week my children and I have donated over fifty pairs of shoes to charity.  Every time they do something wonderful I want everyone to know about it.  In the past I have stressed how much I love being a mommy.  Well that is still true I love my children so much!  God has definitely placed me in the right role in life.  I think that motherhood is one of the highest callings from God.  It is not the only role that I have, but it is the most fulfilling and rewarding.  I like being the mom that is a chaperone on all school trips.  I am the mommy that has to take kids to soccer practice and art lessons every day.  Oh yeah I am the mommy that has homemade cookies for all the kids in the neighborhood!! I want my children to know the importance of giving, and to help other people when they need it.  They have been taught about the people that are less fortunate.  There are parents that are not able to get their children food, or c...

Teaching Children To Give

Image
This week the children are on Spring Break, and that means that things are really busy around the house.  During this time of year we are at a half way mark for summer, and I am planning on homeschooling during the summer months.  Many will ask me "Do you like homeschooling during the summer?"  And I will always respond happily "Yes I love it!"  Summers are always full of opportunities for the children to learn.  One of the lessons that my children are learning about this week is how to give.  My children have been blessed with many good things.  I praise God for what he has done for me and my family.  He has been faithful in supplying all of my needs, and making sure that I have all the things that I need for my family. As a mommy I have always been keen on teaching my kids how to give without expecting anything in return.  This week they will be giving toys to charity for other children to enjoy.  I do not want them to be selfish, or...

The Joys of Motherhood

Image
Today my children and I have taken the time to be kind to the poor.  There is great joy in helping someone who may need a little extra help.  There was a mother that did not have food for her child, and a father that needed clothes for his son.  I am a single mother, and I have had my portion of storms.  Praise God he has lifted me from those dark days of lack.  I want my kids to know the importance of having compassion for mankind, and how materialistic things can fade over time.  They need to see how blessed they are to have all of their physiological needs met, and have some materialistic things to enjoy.  The lessons that I am teaching them are not directly from society, but what I am teaching is filled with biblical principle.  I have an obligation to instill them with the right things.  The basis of what I am teaching is full of the Word, and has a vast amount of godly instruction.  I consider being a mother more than just a jo...

WHEN

Image
For the times that I have been hungry You have given me bread to eat For the times that I have been thirsty You have allowed me to drink from the living waters When I was fearful and afraid You have been there to comfort me When I was lost in the wilderness You have found me When I have suffered from loneliness You have been there to comfort me When I was in need You have provided for me When I was sick You were the one who healed my body When I ask you for wisdom You have given me the truth When I was in need You have come to my rescue When I was crying You have come to wipe away my tears When I was angry It was your strength that has kept me calm When I need a friend You are always there When I needed saving You sent your Son to die on the cross for me © Amanda Matthews   Jesus answered "It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone but on every word that  comes from the mouth of God."  Matthew 4:4 ...

Fallen Angel

One night I was sitting on the steps of my house I was in deep thought The dog went inside his house for the night I closed my eyes to feel the breeze Summers are very hot and dry The moon was shining very bright unaware of what was happening Something crashed int he bushes I had jumped up and proceeded To see what it was My dog came running Only to run back inside his house I had shaken off any fear That had encumbered me I had found a few feathers on the ground The size of the feathers amazed me I had a desire to run but curiosity loomed over me I had noticed a wing of some kind The wing span was amazingly long My feet turned before I did When the wing had started to flap I ran to the house I could hear my dog whimper I had looked back to see what was in the yard I looked out of the window I had noticed a man standing there He was looking back at me My heart started to race with fear I could not tell who he was I was hungry...
