Even In Barreness There IS a Miracle

For the past few days we have been dealing with barreness, and how the  unfruitful can become fruitful and multiply.  On yesterday we had taken a look at how God can turn lack into favor.  This series was meant for the women that have been praying for a child, but it can also be applied to other areas of your life.  Within this series we have heard, and taken a look at the stories of Sarah and Hannah.  Today I would like to talk about Elizabeth and Rachael, and I would like to share my own story of barreness. I guess I have chosen these women, because they had a real issue that they had been aware of.  They all had a desire to be mothers, and I know that they were righteous  and godly women.  In the case of Elizabeth she is the mother of John the Baptist.  She was the wife of Zachariah, and she was barren.  Elizabeth was 88 years old when she was blessed with her son. Rachael is another woman in the Bible that suffered with infertilit...

New Life

Image
Welcome to the summer!!  It has been a long time since I have posted to my blog.  The children and I have completed our first year of home school, and we are enjoying the summer. Today I want to briefly talk about new life, and what it means to start over.  I am so excited about what God is doing in my life.  I have recently graduated college, and have plans to have another child.  Yes you have read it I am on the journey to motherhood again, and have decided to document everything through my blog. Before I expand my family there are a few things that I have to do.  I have to lose weight, change my eating habits, and make some lifestyle changes that will ensure a healthy pregnancy and baby.  So for the next six months I will be on a very happy and healthy journey. I believe that we should not be a prisoner to our past.  There is some point in our lives that we have to forget the former things that have past away.  In order...

Motherhood

Image
Being a mother is more than just wearing a title It is a calling  It is a job It is a blessing  That is bestowed upon all women it is more than just singing your children to sleep It is more than just reading them stories at bedtime What about  the moments: When your child was born When he/she babbled his/her first words What about the moment they walked for the first time Or they had an accident on the playground What about the first time you taught her how to ride her bike Or you cheered them on at their soccer game How about all the times that she was sick And wanted you to hold her hand  And feed her chicken soup You can remember every ceremony, ball game, dance, and everything that your child has done You look for every smile and every opportunity to be there for your children You are blessed as a mother I am blessed to be a mother Proverbs 31:10-30

Worldly or Godly Standards

Image
This week I will be talking about acceptance.  I have noticed that many young women want to serve God, and live by the standards of the world.  The fact is, God is calling us to live by a higher standard of life.  Society has glamorized certain lifestyles, and many young people feel like they should be included in it.  Most of them feel that being popular is better than having morals and values. Can we live by the world's standards, and still please God?  The Bible says in Romans 12:2 "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is —his good, pleasing and perfect will."  As Christians we should live a life that is pleasing to the Lord. We are made in the image of God, and we are representatives of our Father.  That means that everything we do is being reflected, and the world is looking at us.  We are examples to the world.  Matt...

An Atitude of Gratitude

Image
Last week I had one of the biggest scares in my life.  It was last Tuesday morning, and it was a typical day in our household.  I had awakened at 5:00 a.m., and prepared myself for the day.  The kids had been awakened at 6:00 a.m., and they were in their usual mood.  We went through our normal routine, and had fun during the morning of preparations.  I never end the morning routine without a word of prayer.  Like always we hug and kiss and say our goodbyes. After the children had gone I had a sense of peace from the morning prayer.  There was nothing unusual going on so I had continued with my normal routine.  At around 7:30 the neighbor was ringing the doorbell. She had her oldest daughter by her side, and her eyes were filled with tears.  She said " I am not trying to scare you, but a lady just called me, and reported that a man has our babies held hostage on the bus."  My jaw dropped in dismay , and I was scare...

A Deeper Look

Image
This is a journal of my daily life as a single mother, and the things that has caused some real challenges for me.   I have learned that real love is sacrificial, and it endures to the end.   After the separation of my family I am learning how deep love is.   Just months after my relationship ended my son was diagnosed with autism.   It was in the spring of 2008 when I had received the news.   I know that my son’s diagnosis was not a death sentence, but this was a very difficult time for me as a parent.   How could a single mother of four children take care of a special needs child?     I suddenly found myself becoming depressed.   I did not have a support system, and I felt the stress deep down in my body and spirit.   The only one that could help me out of this was God. I know I had to be strong for my children.   I was all that they had at this point.   The Bible says “Come to me, all you wh...

God's Blessings Over My Family

Image
I was glancing at some photos of my family, and I can see how blessed I am.  Some things in life are free of charge, and I can say that I have it all.  With each photo there has been a special memory that has been created, and the memories will last a lifetime.  How often do you get to share a special moment with your children?  Those moments when they laugh, cry, discover their passion, or do really well at an event.  I am happy that I have been there for all of my children's first, and my prayer is to be there for everything in the future. There is nothing in this world that can replace all of the joy that I have with my children.  I have a relationship with each one, and we have a bond that is very strong.  Motherhood is a calling, and I hold this position in high regard.  It is more than just raising four children.  I am raising leaders for the future.   Hannah has the highest reading level in her class.  I am dedicated...

Training Children in The Lord

Image
I am a firm believer that children should be taught in the way that they shall go.  I teach my children based on the principles of Proverbs 22:6 is says "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not part from it."  Each parent is different, but the most important factor is raising children effectively.  As a mom I train my girls to cook, clean, sew, and iron.  Well some may say that is a little old fashioned, but they are women in training.  One day they will have a family of their own, and they will need to know the basics of housekeeping.  My sons are learning the same lessons, but in a different perspective.  All parents have a set of values, and beliefs that they want to instill in their children.  My beliefs are in close relation to the Bible.  My children  are being trained, and prepared for life.  I thank God that he has bestowed this blessing on me.  In the near future I will ha...

Understanding School Violence and What You Can Do To Protect Your Children

Image
School is a place where a child is suppose to learn, and feel safe.  For most children it is a home away from home, because most of them will spend all day in school.  Some children have learned to accept school as a place of refuge, because they have a terrible home life.  Some may rely on the guidance of teachers, and support staff to help them. In the past we have seen more accidents and tragedies that have been related to school violence.  School violence is youth violence that can occur on school property, or at school related events.  There are many things that can cause youth violence, and I have learned that a child's environment can be a leading factor.  For example a child that lives in an impoverished surrounding is more capable of causing an act of violence.  That may be true, but there are also other things that can lead to violence at school.  This  is just a matter of opinion, but there are a number of things that can ca...

Prayer For the Children

Image
God has placed it on my heart to raise awareness about the safety of our children.  For the next year I will be praying fervently for every child that is in our nation's schools.  Children are the most important assets for the future, and they need to be covered by God's protection.  In the past we have seen tragedies that have taken the nation by storm.  I am praying for a good start this school year, and hope that every  child has a safe, happy, and healthy school year. Starting September 26th I will be praying every day for the protection and health of our children.  I invite you to join me in asking God  to protect and keep our children safe from all harm and danger.  I truly believe that ALL children deserve to opportunity to learn, and receive a good education.  Until next time may the Lord bless you with peace and prosperity.   See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels ...

I Have To Start From The Beginning

Image
Lord as I spread my wings to fly I look to you for understanding I look to you for guidance I look to you for instruction You are the great Jehovah Yahweh You are El Olam You are the Prince of Peace I will place my trust in you You are God and I love you Watch over me and keep me safe I know I have to start this race I will run this race with a glad heart I will run this race with joy When I am faced with challenges I will still praise you Lord You are the Great I am You are Jehovah Jirah You are God My daughter Hannah has been consistent in her drawing and sketching.  She is determined to be an artist.  She said "Mommy will I become a great painter if I keep practicing?"  I told her she had to keep practicing, and everything had a starting place. I try to encourage my kids to do the best that they can, and I am impressed with Hannah's consistency and determination.  She has a developed a passion for the arts, and she has a designated time t...

Planning For Summer Break

Image
Summer is coming fast, and I have been searching for some healthy meals that will be easy to prepare.  It can heat up here in the south, and the kitchen is the last place that I want to be.  So I am preparing to do plenty of grilling. Another thing that I love doing is baking all of my desserts and snacks.  I have never been a  fan of snacks out of the store, and found that baking is better.  When I bake my own foods I can control the ingredients.  That means that I can control the sugar and salt content in my food.  I substitute sugar with a low calorie sweetener.  My desserts are very easy to prepare, and it can fit any budget.  The best thing is I plan to have the children in the kitchen to learn a few lessons about food preparation.  I want the children to learn to eat healthy, and learn about saving money.    I have become very concerned about how much sugar the kids are consuming, and have decided to adopt a heal...

Kindergarten School Trip

Image
This past Friday I had a chance to be a chaperone for my daughter's kindergarten field trip.  There were 80 little children eager to check out nature.  This year the students had the opportunity to explore nature, and walk along a mountain trail.  Our trail guide made the trip very exciting, and I think the kids absolutely enjoyed themselves.  I was excited, because I love to see children that want to learn.  It really warmed my heart when to see so many kids with smiles on their faces. My daughter Keara was excited to see all of the different species of plants, and the birds that had flown  along the trail.  The memories of this trip will not be forgotten. and I am looking forward to what will happen next. I think that this trip was very exciting for all the kindergarten classes at the children's school.  As a parent I want to be involved in all of my children's activities.  Children are the future, and I want to be a part in...

My Life and My Calling

Image
I am so glad that I have chosen to go into business for myself.  When I first started this journey I had to pray for God's revelation.  I have been writing for over eighteen years, and always found it to be enjoyable experience.  Another thing in my life that I have found to be fulfilling is being a mother.  I think that this is the greatest role that God as given me.  I feel blessed and honored to be raising my children.  I am their first teacher, role model, and mentor.  Above all things I am a co creator of life.  I take great pride in teaching my children the Word of God, and helping them learn along their journey of life. Yesterday I was looking out of my living room window, and I heard a conversation that my daughter Hannah was having with a friend.  Apparently the friend was not being very nice to her mom, and I heard Hannah tell her about the scriptures that she is learning this week.  This week I am teaching from the scripture...

The Importance of Having Me Time

Image
It is 5:00 in the morning , and the alarm keeps ringing in my ear.  I have a whole list of chores, and work that I have to get done for the day.  I have piles of laundry that needs to be washed, and I have four children that has to be at school by seven.  I am backed up in my work, and have several deadlines that I have to meet.  The yard needs to be cut, and the bushes need trimming.  I have to go to the grocery store, and have dinner on the table by 4 pm.  Did I mention that I have to braid the girls hair, and take the car for maintenance.  This is the life that I live on a daily basis.  I am constantly on the go.  O I did not mention the kids have activities, and other things that is not related to school.  The life of a busy mom requires plenty of energy.  That is why I make it a priority to have some "Me Time".  Something as simple as a good hot bath to treating myself to a healthy lunch.   I always take t...

MY LIFE AFTER DIVORCE

Image
Okay I am single again, and a lot of things have changed,  I am the head of my household, the mother of four great children, and I have full control of all responsibilities.  I no longer have a covering, and I have felt a sense of loneliness without a partner.  I have often questioned if God could use me since my divorce.  I have always had a vision for ministry, and owning  my own business.  After my divorce I have been praying constantly asking the Lord to guide me through this phase of my life.  The process has been slow, and has taken much patience on my part.  I have been managing my home, and taking care of everything.  By the mercy and grace of God I am raising four beautiful children, and the Lord has been faithful in that area of my life.  He is guiding me on the journey of parenthood, and have blessed me to have a good group of kids.  (So far so good :)). As a single mother I have so many things that I have to do, and I...

My Children's Lesson On Giving

Image
This week my children and I have donated over fifty pairs of shoes to charity.  Every time they do something wonderful I want everyone to know about it.  In the past I have stressed how much I love being a mommy.  Well that is still true I love my children so much!  God has definitely placed me in the right role in life.  I think that motherhood is one of the highest callings from God.  It is not the only role that I have, but it is the most fulfilling and rewarding.  I like being the mom that is a chaperone on all school trips.  I am the mommy that has to take kids to soccer practice and art lessons every day.  Oh yeah I am the mommy that has homemade cookies for all the kids in the neighborhood!! I want my children to know the importance of giving, and to help other people when they need it.  They have been taught about the people that are less fortunate.  There are parents that are not able to get their children food, or c...

Inspired By The Life of A Child

Image
When I look into my son's eyes I notice that there is something missing. Just a year ago he was vibrant and happy. No one could beat him playing basketball, or playing video games. Today he is in his own little world. You see my son was diagnosed with autism in 2002. From that point he has regressed in his verbal and social skills. I always try to encourage him, but he still struggles to speak. My other children have trouble understanding what is happening to him. They ask me questions like "Will my brother get better?" I believe in my heart that my son will speak again, and do the things that has brought him joy in the past. I love to see him laugh, and have fun with his siblings. As a parent it is very frustrating to see my child struggle to do things for himself. I know that he is not the only child that has autism or special needs. When I look at a child with special needs I see beauty in them. Each child is unique, and special in their own way. ...
