Biblical or Worldly Standards

This week I will be talking about acceptance.  I have noticed that many young women want to serve God, and live by the standards of the world.  The fact is, God is calling us to live by a higher standard of life.  Society has glamorized certain lifestyles, and many young people feel like they should be included in it.  Most of them feel that being popular is better than having morals and values.

Can we live by the world's standards, and still please God?  The Bible says in Romans 12:2 "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."  As Believers we should live a life that is pleasing to the Lord. We are made in the image of God, and we are representatives of our Father.  That means that everything we do is being reflected, and the world is looking at us.  We are examples to the world.  Matthew 5:14 says " You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden."  As Believers we are to be set apart, consecrated, and separate from worldly standards.  Even as young Christians we need to be mindful of everything that we think, say and do.

I can imagine that being a young person is hard, but God is looking for representatives in this generation. Are we really different from, or are our standards different from that of the world?  Well the Bible says in Romans 13:12 "The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light."  Also in the book of Ephesians 5:8 it says "For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light."

Being young is not an excuse not to serve God properly.  In fact it can be a very powerful statement.  I often tell my children that living for God and representing Him in their generation can be a very powerful statement.  It can also be a very powerful form of expression.  With so much darkness in this generation they can let their lights shine in the darkness of their generation.  (Yes children can be beacons of light)

I am convinced that many young girls believe that less is more.  Most of them have been led to believe that less clothing is more attractive.  I cannot and will not blame society for everything, but the world has glamorized the cliché that less is more.  The truth of the  matter lies in my ability as a mother.  I have two daughters, and I have an obligation to teach them respect for their bodies.  For the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;  you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies."  It is meant for us to honor our bodies and respect it.

This week the children are learning about the importance of godly standards, and what God requires of us.  They understand the concepts of both godly and worldly standards, and must learn to differentiate the differences between the two of them.  We are always thankful to the Lord for all that he has done.

Hannah, Ray, Keara, and Daniel are all doing well in this summer. We are striving to reach our educational and personal goals.  Look for an update on how my diet is going.  God loves ALL of us, and we are all special.  Until next time may the Lord bless you with peace and prosperity.
