The Need
As a writer I sometimes write by feeling. I write a out things that can affect people day to day. This week I watched a mother lay her child to rest. In fact I saw two mothers put their babies to rest.
A one year old baby lost his life to gun violence. The mother helpless had to watch her child die at the hands of the police. His little body lay there restless on the pavement. As a parent I couldn't imagine her pain, or the grief that she was feeling.
Another child dies at the tender age of 18. He was just getting ready to face the world. He was ready for college, but he never got the chance to make it. I couldn't stand to look at his mom. The pain on her face was too much to bear.
Both of these children were young black boys. Young brothers that had to taste the jaws of death at an early age. They were not sick. They had no illness. They were not menaces to society. Yet their lives were cut short. Three is a need to advocate for the youth. An extreme call to protect our babies. Who thought it was a good idea to put a child in harm's way. The enemy may have an agenda, but we as parents, and mentors have a mandate. Our sons, a d daughters deserve to be protected, loved, and cherished. We need to pray for our young people. Ask God to protect them, and give them a chance ce to grow up, and live the life they deserve to live. Until next time may God bless you with peace and prosperity.
